How to Clean & Maintain an Epoxy Floor (the Easy Way)
A coated floor is about as low-maintenance as flooring gets — it is seamless, non-porous, and nothing soaks in. Here is all it really takes to keep an epoxy or polyaspartic floor looking showroom-new.
Everyday
- Sweep or dust-mop grit now and then — sand and dirt are the only things that dull the finish over time.
- Wipe spills (oil, salt, chemicals) when you see them. No rush — nothing penetrates — but salt and chemicals are easiest fresh.
Every so often
- Mop with warm water and a little mild dish soap or a pH-neutral floor cleaner. Rinse if you used soap so it does not leave a film.
- Hose it down (garages with a drain) for a deeper clean — a coated floor loves water.
What to avoid
- Harsh acids (like undiluted citrus or vinegar in heavy doses) and abrasive pads — they are not needed and can dull gloss.
- Dragging sharp metal or dropping heavy tools edge-first. The coating is tough, not invincible.
- Hot tire pickup? Not an issue on a properly installed polyaspartic-topped floor — that is one reason we use it.
